Dr. Salvatore Zaffina is currently serving as the MD Coordinator of the Occupational Medicine Service at the Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital, Scientific Research Institute. He previously held a professorship in Occupational Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of Tor Vergata University in Rome. Dr. Zaffina completed his degree in Medicine and Surgery with the highest marks and pursued post-doctoral specialization in Occupational Medicine at the Catholic University.
From 2007 to 2016, he served as the Chief Medical Officer and Coordinator of Medical Doctors at IRCCS Child Jesus Hospital, with additional responsibilities as the Authorized Doctor of Radiation Protection. He is also a Consultant of the Supreme Council of Health in the Public Health Section. Dr. Zaffina earned a Master's degree in Clinical Risk Management at the Biomedical Campus and is actively engaged in research, having published in esteemed international journals and presented at seminars hosted by prestigious foreign universities and international meetings.
He is a member of several scientific societies, including the Italian Society of Occupational Medicine and Industrial Hygiene, the Italian Association of Medical Radiation Protection, and the Society for Neuroscience. Dr. Zaffina's research contributions encompass numerous projects funded by significant national bodies such as the Italian Ministry for Education, University and Research (MIUR), the Italian Ministry of Health, the Italian Ministry of Labour, INAIL, and the Catholic University.
His research interests focus on biological effects of ionizing and non ionizing radiation, health surveillance and exposure assessment of chemical agents.
