Born in Malovăț on 7 April 1948, EcaterinaAndronescu started her career in 1972 as an Assistant lecturer at Faculty of Industrial Chemistry and then she became, step by step, Lecturer, Associate Professor, Professor and Dean, from 1992 to 2004. Between 1995 and 1996 she has been State Secretary for Higher Education at Ministry of Education. From 1996 to 1998 she has been Deputy in the Romanian Parliament, The Romanian Chamber of Deputies, and also Secretary and Member in the Committee for Education, Science, Youth and Sport, Committee for Education, Science, Youth and Sport. From 2004 to 2012 Mrs. Andronescu was the Rector of the Politehnica University in Bucharest. Since 2012, she is the President of the Politehnica University Senate. Since 2008 she is a senator in The Senate of Romania and Vice-president in The Committee for Education, Science, Youth and Sport. Also, from 2012 to 2018 Mrs. Andronescu was the President of The Committee for Education, Science, Youth and Sport in the Romanian Parliament. In the period 2001-2003, 2009, 2012 and 2018-2019 EcaterinaAndronescu has been the Minister of Education and Research. Along her career she received honorary titles such as Doctor HonorisCausa – from several universities. MrsEcaterinaAndronescu has been a member, founder, president in various governmental and nongovernmental institutions: 1996-2004 Member of the Commission for Chemistry and Materials Science, the National Council for Certification of Diplomas and Academic Titles; 2004 President of the Commission for Chemistry and Materials Science, National Council for Certification of Diplomas and Academic Titles; 1994 – 200, 2004 2005 Member of the Commission for Engineering Sciences, National Council for Academic Evaluation and Accreditation; 2006 Member of the Register of Assessors of ARACIS, Chemical Engineering Committee; Founder and President of the Romanian Society of Materials; Founder of the Romanian Society of Ceramics; Founder of the Romanian Society of Chemistry; Member of the European Society of Ceramics, Member of the Scientists Academy; Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal for Industrial Silicates; Reviewer, Elsevier Publishing House, Amsterdam, Holland.
