Levente Kovács studied at SzentIstván University, obtaining his Ph.D. in the Postgraduate School of Animal Science. Currently, he works in the Large Animal Clinical Research Group of the Hungarian Academy of Science parallel with his education activity in Szent István University, Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. He is ahead lecturer and responsible teacher of the course entitled Cattle breeding in the English and the Hungarian undergraduate courses. Dr. Kovács’s current research activities cover dairy cattle behavior and welfare, stress-physiology and behavioral physiology in cattle, hormonal, autonomic and behavioral adaptation to heat stress in dairy cows and calves and well-being aspects of bovine parturition (possible treatments of parturition pain alleviation using NSAIDs, assistance at calving, management of dystocia, newborn calf vitality).
The scientific work of Dr. Kovács has wide international interest. During the last four years, he published over 20 scientific papersinQ1 journals in the fields of animal well-being, physiology, stress, and pain. He was the first, who described chronic pain in cows suffering from lameness means of non-invasive welfare assessment methods.
