BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH AND REVIEWS (ISSN:2631-3944)

Harish C Pant

Biography:

Dr. Pant's academic journey spans several prestigious institutions and encompasses a diverse range of research interests in the field of biophysics and neurobiology. After obtaining his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Physics from Agra University, India, he pursued postdoctoral studies at the Department of Biophysics at Michigan State University, focusing on the mechanisms of electron and ion transport in model membrane systems.

In 1974, Dr. Pant joined the Laboratory of Neurobiology at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) as a senior staff fellow, where he collaborated with Dr. Ichiji Tasaki to investigate the function of the axonal cytoskeleton in the squid giant axon. His research interests later expanded to include the effects of alcohol on neuronal cytoskeleton regulation, leading him to join the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) in 1979.

In 1987, Dr. Pant transitioned to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), specifically the Laboratory of Neurochemistry, where he currently serves as the chief of the section on Cytoskeleton Regulation. In this role, his laboratory focuses on elucidating the mechanisms underlying the topographic regulation of neuronal cytoskeleton proteins through post-translational modifications, with a particular emphasis on the involvement of kinase cascades in both normal brain function and neurodegenerative processes.

Throughout his career, Dr. Pant has made significant contributions to our understanding of cytoskeletal dynamics in neuronal cells and their implications for neurological disorders. His research efforts have been instrumental in advancing the field of neurobiology and have garnered recognition within the scientific community.

Research Interests:

His research interest mainly focuses on Cytoskeleton Regulation, Parkinson's Disease, Alzheimer’s Diseases and Neurodegenerative disorders.
