Abeda Jamadar

Biography:

Dr. Abeda Jamadar earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of York in the UK in 2013, where she researched Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes of Aroylhydrazones as anti-tubercular agents under the guidance of Dr. Anne Duhme-Klair. She completed her Master of Science in Chemistry in 2005 from the University of Pune, where her research topic was the synthesis and anticancer activity of novel Curcumin analogs under the guidance of Dr. Subhash Padhye. Abeda has had a diverse range of professional experiences, including working as a post-doctoral researcher in the Cancer Biology department and the Kidney Institute at the University of Kansas Medical Center, as an assistant professor at Abeda Inamdar Senior College in Pune, as a lab instructor at the University of York, and as an online tutor for chemistry for a USA-based private company. She has received several academic and professional honors, including the Kansas Idea Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (K-INBRE) Postdoctoral Award and the Karen L. Campbell, PhD, Trainee Award for the Annual Meeting at ASN Kidney Week 2021.

Research Interests:

Dr. Abeda Jamadar's research interests focus on exploring potential treatments for kidney diseases and discovering new therapeutic targets. Specifically, her research has centered around studying signaling pathways and mechanisms involved in kidney diseases such as polycystic kidney disease and acute kidney injury. She has also investigated potential therapies, including using natural products and kinase inhibitors. In addition to her work on kidney diseases, Dr. Jamadar has also studied the interaction of human serum albumin with aminothymoquinone and synthesized a series of pyruvate-containing aroylhydrazones and their copper complexes for antitubercular activities. Overall, her research aims to contribute to the development of effective treatments for kidney diseases and other related conditions.
