Her interests embrace the role of the angiogenic growth factors (VEGF and PlGF) in pathological angiogenesis associated with tumor growth or degenerative diseases. Dr. Loredana Albonici is a researcher at the Tumour Cell Biology Laboratory of the National Institute of Health (NIH) in Bethesda - MD (USA) headed by Dr. Robert C. Gallo, Scientific-disciplinary group MED/04 - General Pathology.
Her research interest focuses on the molecular mechanisms of regulation of angiogenic factors such as vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and placental growth factor (PlGF) in both tumor models and in association with degenerative diseases, aspects that can improve the early detection of breast cancer such as the mineral composition of micro calcifications and the paralleled activation of some transcriptional factors in breast tumor specimens.
