Biography:

Mohamed Ismail Ashrafali received his PhD in 2013 from Christian Medical College, India. His Ph.D. thesis was on “antiviral resistance characterization in chronic hepatitis B patients”. During this time, he also specialized in molecular and epidemiological studies of hepatitis viruses associated with liver cancer. He had gained significant experiences in quality control and validation of diagnostic assays. Dr. Ismail joined the Chodosh lab, Mass Eye and Ear, Harvard Medical School in November 2013, and is working on evolution and biology of human adenoviruses that cause severe ocular surface infection.

Research Interests:

Virus-host cell interactions, genomics and evolution, standardization and validation of diagnostic assays
